Joan Yanch

I am just finishing off my "On The Bus" series of pics, and I thought that I would throw this pic up even though the quality is not the best. The bus was a shaky, vibrating place and a pile of shots came out blurry in the low light of the bus.

In this shot, Joan Yanch is caught by the camera with her eyes closed.

Judy McLinton

A pensive Judy McLinton is seen on the bus. Judy was another one of the vibrant characters that stands out in my memories of high school.

Spectators

On a warm Indian Summer day, the student body assembled to watch a football game. I shot a few frames of the spectators. The only students that I can identify here are Cheryl Hambly (far left), Debbie Sutherland (front, back to camera), Christie Marks (kneeling facing camera right) and George Dragota, the only male in the picture.

Update: Laura Mozic is kneeling between Cheryl & Christy

Bring A Child To School Day

I have a series of negatives that is quite intriguing and I do not remember the circumstances behind them. Apparently we had a day at school where one could bring a child to school.

I have several pics in this series, including a portrait (below) of an unidentified child that also appeared in the above pic.
If you can identify anyone in these photos, please leave a comment.

Teacher Lineup

I snapped this pic at kangaroo court when the new teachers were asked to stand. In the foreground there is John Donkers, Regina Horrigan and Gary Ranalli. Students identifiable in the background include (left to right) Peter Gibbs, Rocco Ambra, Mario Romano, Mike Taras, Marvin Matusiak, Mark Foley and teacher George Callender at the bottom right.

Bill Higgins

Bill Higgins was called Whiggins by the students because that is the way that he signed his name (W for William, Higgins). It was said that he was the heir to the Mother Parker's Coffee Company.

This pic is slightly blurry, but I snapped it while looking through the classroom door. I didn't know him well as a teacher, and didn't know how he would take to being candidly photographed.

Fashion Show Series

I have a whole series of negatives of a fund-raising fashion show by the students. This is Lucy Jana modeling a long dress.

Sister Mary Sheila

These images are not mine. They were sent to me from a defunct OCHS archive website. I think that the above pictured nun was Sister Mary Sheila, the principal of OCHS before Sister Conrad Lauber.

Rita Grotenhuis

Rita Grotenhuis was a member of the badminton club.

The pic below is the way that I like to remember Rita -- with a guitar around a campfire. A young Danny Clancy can be seen in the photo as well.

Religious Knowledge Teacher

When I moved to the tropics, I didn't bring my yearbooks with me so I am at a disadvantage in naming this teacher. What I do know is that he taught religious knowledge or RK in Grade 12, and if my memory serves me correctly, he was a priest.

Update: Click on the comment below. This is Father Gary Harrison. In pace requiescat.

Tony Seaver in Leather Pants

At the fashion show, they convinced Tony Seaver to be a model, AND wear leather pants. Me, I don't have the personality for leather pants -- 1970's or NOT!

Teacher Initiation

At kangaroo court, the new teachers went through a mild initiation themselves. It wasn't like the minor niners who were egged, shoe-polished, humiliated and degraded. It was more benign. They had to put up happy faces and sing. Pictured here (left to right) is Ingulf Trettin , Joe Pender, Jiri Jelen, Linda Langero and Tom Chase.

Miss Catalano Math Teacher

Miss Catalano was a math teacher (I can't recall her first name). Here she is shown helping Sue Vitali.

Note: It has just come to my attention that Susan Joan Lovell (nee Vitali) passed away on June 27, 2008. In pace requiescat.

Chris Hurst

Chris Hurst leans against the bicycle racks on a snowy day. The interesting thing is that he is out of uniform. I cannot recall the circumstances of the picture.
