After the Touchdown

Our side comes off the field after scoring a touchdown. I think that number 10 is Paul Coros.

Linda Kawecki

KAWECKI, Linda Diane - 60, died peacefully on September 27, 2012 at St. Mary's of the Lake in Kingston. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Lois Kane (Bruce) and her nephew, John; her brother, Russ, and her sister-in-law, Debbie. She will also be dearly missed by her “Kingston family“ including Nina, Allison, Julie, other loving friends, workmates, and those at Kingsdale Chateau. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Eleanor and John. Linda, a vibrant and witty woman, delighted in agility training with her many dogs, including Lexi. She also loved travelling and explored many countries, ranging Hawaii to Switzerland. She especially enjoyed trips to England to spend time with her dear friends, Stephanie and Madeline on the Brighton seashore. As a member of the court support team at Frontenac Community Mental Health Services, Linda was a committed and compassionate advocate for her clients. Linda faced her battle with cancer with courage, dignity and, often, humour. Even while coming to terms with the end of her life, she repeatedly expressed concern for those caring for her. Family and friends are grateful to the staff at the Kingston General Hospital, St. Mary's of the Lake, and Hospice Kingston for their immense kindness and compassion.

Another Sports Team or Club

I'm guessing that the above is a sports team or a sports club due to Tony White being pictured with them. Looking for names here people. Leave me a comment with them.

Update from reader: Back Row (L to R): Ian Bergin, Edgar Lukasevics, Terry Holland, Jeff Guerts, Paul Corey, ?.
Front Row (L to R): Richard Kowal, Ed Mlinar, Greg Meringer, Doug Jordan, Franklin Holtforster, Tony White.
I believe they were members of a weightlifting team or club during the '73-'74 school year

Assembly II

A few posts ago, I put up pics of a student assembly. The negatives were badly damaged over the years. This is another one in that strip of negatives. I believe that the speakers were giving speeches for student council elections.

I seem to recollect that this may be Jim Nemish's younger brother, but I could be wrong.

Sister Anne Schenck

The above series of images come from an old OCHS archive site that is no longer on the web. Sister Anne Schenck was the principal after Sister Conrad Lauber. This was after my time at OCHS.

Sister Anne Schenck's biography can be found at this link:

Dynamic Duo, Pat Killistoff and Colleen Bulger

It just sort of happened, but certain people hung out with each at school. This was the case of Colleen Bulger and Pat Kilistoff. Actually, it was usually a trio with Yvonne Jensen as the third. They are pictured above in an auditorium, but it is not the OCHS auditorium. I believe that this may have been on a class trip.

Blair Morris Watches Taping of Football Games

In Grade 11, Pineridge Cablecast System came in and demonstrated how television shows were made. I was hooked. They took me on as an apprentice or an intern and paid me nothing to work in their little studio on King Street East. I loved it. I was a cameraman, floor director and technical director running the control board for barely-watched shows that were big hits at the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital. The biggest show that I produced was a Country & Western show called "Norm Babineau and The Country Doves". We got fan mail from the psych hospital.

Because there was a lot of empty air time, they let me take the video camera, and film our OCHS football games. I then took the tape back to the studio and let it run solidly without break over the air -- sometimes with a bit commentary from myself, using the built-in mike on the camera.

Here teacher Blair Morris watches me film a football game. I don't know the dude in the tam-o'shanter with the camera.

Assembly Podium

I have a series of negatives taken from a student assembly. The negatives have not weathered the years well. This is one of them.

Update thanks to a reader: The student at the podium is Jim Szekeres.

Junior Hockey Team

Another "team" shot for the yearbook. It may even be a team of some sort given the fact that Pat O'Brien (a coach) is in the shot as well as Peter Gibbs, who may have been the senior assisting the coach.

The notes for this pic are long gone. Comments are welcome as to the identification of some of the students or what this group did.

Update. This is the junior hockey team. Back row: Pat O'Brien, Peter Gibbs. Center row: Bill McGarry, Dan Clancy, Mike Montgomery, Dave Garrow, Joe Jordan. Front Row: Joe Meringer, Brian Trigg, Derek Friedrich, Kevin Kelly, Marty Gallas, Dave Komel, Dan Carty.

Absent: Jack Lehman, Dan Garrow, Wayne Trigg,

Re-Bricking the School

The school was less than ten years old, and already the brickwork needed serious work. Apparently defective bricks were used in the construction. Here, the brick facing on the gymnasium is being replaced.

Continuing Series -- Student Fashion Show

The student modelling in the above shot, is the same student that is being initiated in the series on student initiation. She was a year behind my class, and unfortunately, I do not have a name for her. Check out the funkadelic 1970's fashion.
